Common names for the plant include Buddha's Hand and Dwarf's Hood Elephant Ear, owing to the pleasing shape of its leaves.
Alocasia cucullata come from tropical regions of South East Asia and China, so you won't be surprised to hear they like warmth and humidity. Don't panic if you have a dry home though, you can replicate its original environment by popping it on top of a pebble tray or by giving it a semi-regular misting.
