The plant’s impressive foliage promises to improve air quality, filtering out VOCs including formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene and carbon dioxide. 

Plus, Fabian releases 97% of the water you give them into the atmosphere, which will help boost the humidity in your home.

• Place the plant in an area with around 2 hours of morning or evening sunlight. Be careful with over-exposure as this could scorch the leaves.
• Once around a third of the soil starts to dry, give the plant a good soak and let the excess water drain. Always use lukewarm filtered water as the roots systems can be sensitive to temperature change.
• Aralia fabian likes warmth and humidity so, mist it often. The ideal temperatures are between 18 and 26ºC.
• During the growing season, feed it with a houseplant fertiliser once every four watering cycles, and once every six to eight in the colder months. 
• If you notice any yellowing,  dying leaves or debris, remove them to encourage healthier growth.
• Repotting is recommended once every three years using a ‘Houseplant’ labelled compost and the next sized pot with sufficient drainage.

Who is the Aralia Fabian?

• According to feng shui, the Aralia Fabian brings warm positive energy - something we could all benefit from in these strange times. 
• Although Polyscias will produce small clusters of white flowers during spring or summer, it's highly unusual for them to bloom in a domestic environment.

The Aralia ‘Fabian’ name

• The name Polyscias derives from Greek, with 'poly' meaning many and the 'scias' translating to shade, in reference to their growth habits.
• Scutellaria' is derived from Latin, translating to 'a small dish, tray or platter", which is in reference to the shape of the calyx.

The most important thing to remember when growing the Aralia Fabian is to keep it warm, at least 18º, the warmer the better. 

This plant does well in most light conditions but thrives in bright indirect light. 

So, if you give it the conditions it needs and be careful to not overwater it, Fabian will grow healthily in your home! 

How tall does it grow? Up to 2m in height and 0.7m in width. The ultimate height will take between 5 - 10 years to achieve, with 8cm of new growth per season.
