Key Benefits of the Lucky Bamboo 'White'

Purifying and Lucky!

Lucky bamboo plants have been named by NASA as one of the best air-purifying plants out there.

Whilst there’s evidence of the purification powers of this plant, we can’t guarantee that it will bring luck to its owner but, according to ancient Chinese practices, there are different meanings depending on how many stalks your plant has:

  • Two stalks: love
  • Three stalks: happiness, wealth and longevity
  • Five stalks: the areas of life that affect wealth
  • Six stalks: Good luck and wealth

...and so on…

However, a traditional lucky bamboo will never have four stalks. In Chinese culture, the word for ‘four’ is close to the word for ‘death’!

Lucky Bamboo 'White' Plant Care Tips

Find your plant a position with bright, indirect light. Generally, it will cope better in shade than in direct sunlight, as this can scorch its leaves. If you notice your plant stretching towards the light or the colour of its leaves fading, you will need to find them a lighter new spot.

Dracaenas are sensitive to the chlorine in tap water to make sure you leave your water out for 24 hours so that the chemicals can evaporate before you water your plant. Their soil should be kept moist but not wet, water once the top inches of soil have dried out. Mist your plant roughly twice a week in order to create a humid environment that it can thrive in.

They prefer warmer temperatures, preferably between 16 and 32ºC, so avoid cold draughts.
