The Swiss Cheese Plant has been at the forefront of the houseplant craze for years now, and there's little wonder why! A speedy grower and easy-pleaser, the Monstera Deliciosa plant is a great introductory plant for novices.

Loved by all for its big jungly leaves, the leaves are more solid and almost heart-shaped as a young plant, but as it matures, it gains splits along the side and sometimes internal holes. People can get quite competitive about their Monstera leaf splits - the more gaping, the better!

Swiss Cheese Plant | Key Benefits

Most houseplants increase humidity as they transpire as part of their photosynthesis. Large surface area leaves like the Monstera Deliciosa are the best choice if you are looking for something to relieve conditions affected by dry air!

Large surface foliage plants are also great at trapping impurities and dust keeping them away from surfaces and your lungs!

Swiss Cheese Plant | Care Tips

The Monstera Deliciosa prefers warmer areas with bright indirect sunlight and peat-based moderately moist soil. Let the top few inches dry between waterings.

In the growing season, use a balanced liquid fertiliser and trim aerial roots if they get too unruly for the space.

The Swiss Cheese Plant Story

It goes unsaid, but we thought we'd mention that the Monstera Deliciosa is referred to as Swiss Cheese because of the holes in the leaves.

Where Is It From?

The Swiss Cheese Plant (or Monstera deliciosa) is native to the rainforests of Central America.
